Go Hoosiers!
This weekend, I had the chance to visit my sister at Indiana University, for the first time since we dropped her off for college. This visit allowed me to truly experience her life at school and explore the town and campus. Spending a weekend in Bloomington gave me a sense of what a day in her life is like and reminded me how unique and beautiful college towns can be.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the football game. Indiana played Michigan and there was a lot on the line since Indiana was undefeated. The energy in the stadium was electric, and the team’s victory added to the excitement. As I watched the game surrounded by the sea of red and white, I couldn’t help but feel like a real Hoosier. I have only been to a few college football games at bigger schools, but this was one of my favorites since I was with my sister. The seats we were at added to the experience since we were in the student section right behind the end zone. Celebrating the win together made the experience even more memorable and they had towels they gave out at the game that I got to keep.
Aside from the game, we spent much time walking around campus. I was struck by how beautiful the buildings and landscaping were. Every corner seemed to reveal another stunning view or architectural detail. The campus was filled with autumn colors on the trees, and I found myself a little jealous that she gets to make this walk every day going to class. I was sure to take many pictures of the fall colors during our walks and explore her favorite spots. My sister showed me the buildings where she attends most of her classes. She goes to the Kelly School of Business there, so I was able to see what her classrooms look like and compare them to how small the ones are here.
I was able to carpool with some of my friends so as I drove home, I was able to debrief their weekend as well and see what they were up to. I was so happy that I was able to see my sister this weekend and have the chance to explore her campus and town more. Experiencing her world firsthand was fun to see what her daily life at a big school looks like compared to my life at a smaller school. I know this visit won’t be my last, and I look forward to making more memories together in her college town.
