A Tale of Two Coffee Shops
One of my favorite activities is getting coffee with my friends and trying new flavors. I almost always have coffee in the morning, it just depends on where it's from. In this blog, I will be comparing the different coffee shops in Ada based on my personal experiences and interactions.
Both coffee shops do an excellent job of providing a cozy
and open atmosphere for everyone. They offer great customer service and are
always welcoming. Both spaces have a lot of natural light, which I love and
find so comforting when looking for a good place to relax or get some homework
done. Additionally, both coffee places have a rewards system, which is so nice
because it makes me feel like I am saving money almost like an investment. I
also feel that I always run into someone that I know in each spot every time I
go. I'm sure that also contributes to Ada being a small town but it still makes
me happy when I run into my friends unexpectedly. Another positive to it being
a small town is that they are both close to campus and are within walking distance,
which may be too convenient for my spending habits.
One major difference between the two coffee shops is that
one is company-owned and the other is family-owned, allowing each of them to
provide distinct experiences. Among the vast differences between the two coffee
shops, I think one of the biggest differences at Buckeye East is the unique
flavors and handmade baked goods they offer in-store. They also are a big part
of the community by hosting farmers' markets, providing open office spaces, and
supporting local businesses through community shops. If you're looking for a
new flavor to try, I highly recommend the cinnamon swirl iced latte. Starbucks
also has a great menu to select from for drinks and food and it is something
most of us grew up drinking because Dunkin is just not it.
For the rewards, Buckeye East offers a punch card where
after purchasing a certain number of coffees, you receive a free one,
effectively lowering the cost of each cup. The Starbucks app also is a huge
advantage, offering various rewards, from customizing a drink to free beverages
or food items, based on the number of points you have from buying coffee.
If I had to choose between the two, Buckeye East is my
favorite because it is only something I can get in Ada and I love their flavors
and baked goods. Don't get me wrong, Starbucks is a great reliable option, but
I only find myself going if I am short on time or know I want a specific thing
on their menu. Both shops bring their own charm and unique offerings,
making it easy to see why they’re both loved by locals and
students. Whether you prefer the community-focused vibe of Buckeye East
with its homemade treats and local events, or the convenience of Starbucks with
its versatile rewards system, there are great options for a coffee experience.
So, the next time you’re looking for a place to enjoy some coffee, it might
just depend on what kind of experience you're in the mood for.
I have thought about this exact same thing so many times! I agree with you that Buckeye East is definitely the best coffee shop in Ada. I love that it feels so small-town and comfy. They really knew what they were doing with the decorations in there because I could sit there for hours! The Starbucks is always packed and I've started to grow tired of it. I do wish Buckeye East was just a little bit closer because it is a farther walk. Other than that, I love it there! Maybe I'll see you there sometime!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I enjoy an iced chai from Starbucks, I would have to agree that a locally owned shop trumps a chain coffee shop any day. The atmosphere of Buckeye East is so cozy and friendly with the overstuffed couches and the owner also taking the time to chat with you! Starbucks is more order and go, getting your coffee to go, or grabbing it and sitting down with not much interaction from the baristas. I also agree that the pastries and treats from Buckeye East are delicious! I always find myself buying a couple buckeye chocolates whenever I stop in for a coffee, they are my favorite! The unique flavors that Buckeye East offers always makes me excited to stop in and try them out. Overall, I agree that Buckeye East is the better option!
ReplyDeleteI've only been to Buckeye East a couple times, but every time I've been I loved it. The coffee there is so good and it is such a cozy spot! I also think it is so cool that they support other small and local businesses. It is something I've never really seen before in a coffee shop, and I think that makes them super unique. The pastries are also super good. This post definitely inspired me to go there sometime soon. Its been way too long since I've been.
