Chapter 2: My Personal Brand

Creating a personal brand is like developing a unique portfolio of who you are and what you offer. My journey toward developing a personal brand starts with one clear vision: working in the sports industry, specifically in golf. Here's how I am shaping my personal brand to reach this goal.

Step 1: Identifying My Target Audience

I want to work in the golf industry, where skills like communication, organization, and digital platform management are key. By targeting companies and roles that value flexibility, digital media expertise and deadline management, I am positioning myself to thrive in an environment that values hard work and innovative solutions.

After researching job descriptions, I’ve identified a few keywords that match my abilities: organized, flexible, experience in digital sports media and communication. These keywords guide my brand, making sure I speak directly to hiring managers in the sports industry.

Step 2: My Vision and Purpose

My vision is to work in a company that aligns with my values, surrounding myself with colleagues who push me to be better while working on something I’m passionate about. I see myself thriving in a role where my love for golf and digital media converges. This purpose drives me to research companies thoroughly to ensure they not only match my skillset but also share my passion and commitment to the sport.

Step 3: Aligning My Values

Authenticity, compassion, challenge and respect are at the core of my values. I want my brand to reflect these, ensuring that I am true to myself in every situation. Whether it’s maintaining kindness in the workplace or challenging myself to excel in my career, I want my values to guide me every step of the way.

Step 4: Driving My Passions

My passion for golf is my biggest motivator, but beyond that, I am equally driven by relationships with friends, family and colleagues. Helping others and being approachable is a key part of my brand. I love being the person others can count on, whether that’s giving advice or helping them complete a simple task.

Step 5: Setting My Goals

From shooting in the 70s on the golf course to maintaining strong grades in school, my goals keep me motivated. Staying organized and helping others are also part of my daily life. These personal goals are steppingstones toward my goal: thriving in a sports-related role where I can make an impact.

By understanding my skills, values and passions, I’m building a personal brand that’s authentic and aligned with what I love. It’s a process that will continue to grow as I gain experience but staying true to who I am and what I care about is key. As I continue to work hard and focus on my goals, I’m confident that I’ll find opportunities that fit my strengths and help me grow in the field I love.
